À chaque mois, nous abordons un thème différent avec un mot de la direction ainsi que de courtes vignettes portant sur les fonds, les philanthropes et les organismes qui forment la communauté de la FGM en se mettant à l’écoute et au service de la communauté du Grand Montréal.
Philanthropy, which I see as one of the best vehicles for making a lasting difference in our society, has always played a major role in my life. That’s why I immediately agreed to be a part of the Women’s Impact Montreal (WIM) Collective Fund at FGM: I saw the potential for this initiative to respond in a foundational way to some of the most pressing needs in our society, needs that are unfortunately often neglected. The Advisory Committee I chair will be attentive to these issues, in order to maximize the impact the Fund will have on the ground.
Above and beyond financial contributions to support the charitable organizations that directly assist Montreal women – and whose role is undervalued – the WIM Fund is also a tool for raising awareness. The WIM Fund will place front and centre those who day in and day out implement the best solutions to the challenges faced by women and girls. In order for our actions to make a difference, we need to start by listening to those who are experiencing these problems, and those working to resolve them.
In 2021, unfortunately, not all women in Montreal have an equal chance at attaining their full potential. Many of them still need protection or support in various ways. The WIM Fund will be there to amplify the voices of those we don’t hear enough, and to provide support where the needs are most urgent.
