L’Afromusée

Guy Mushagalusa Chigoho has been managing the Espace Mushagalusa since 2014. This Montreal art gallery and cultural centre is dedicated to showcasing African collections and cultures. At his initiative, the Afromusée was founded in 2017, with a mission to “know, recognize, and make known Africa, African and Afro-descendant peoples, their cultures, and their living heritage.”

This space for creation and dialogue offers intercultural encounters, educational programs, and travelling exhibitions, among other things. These initiatives help introduce audiences to — and give voice to — the witnesses of Africanness in all its forms.

Over the years, the Foundation of Greater Montréal has provided financial support to the Afromusée’s development projects and, as part of Black History Month in February 2026, welcomed an exhibition in its offices. The works shown on this occasion were inspired by the life of activist Alexander Grant. Thank you for this wonderful moment!
