Montréal, February 13, 2020 – The President and CEO of the Foundation of Greater Montréal (FGM), Mr. Yvan Gauthier, is announcing today that he has decided to depart the organization, after having headed it for nearly seven years. He will be finishing his tenure at the end of May. Feeling the pull of new challenges, and wanting to embark on other projects, Mr. Gauthier leaves behind for the benefit of the Greater Montréal community an organization that is in excellent health, and expanding at a rapid rate.

“FGM is now blessed with a team of experienced employees and managers who have contributed to it becoming an institution in our community. After only 20 years of operation, FGM has become the sixth largest community foundation in Canada as measured by assets under management. I want to thank our donors and fund creators for their generosity, without which this resounding success would not have been possible. Through its commitment to pursue the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, the Foundation has also developed a unique form of leadership, enabling it to mobilize the community around a vision and around strategic projects. In short, FGM currently has tremendous momentum, as can also be seen in its great capacity to bring together partners from all sectors of society, and I want as well to thank those partners for their exceptional collaboration over the years. Internally, the establishment of a new administrative structure that is more collegial in style has bolstered the team and indeed the whole organization. I have complete confidence in the team’s ability to pursue FGM’s initiatives and development at a continued level of excellence in the coming years,” Mr. Gauthier stated.

The chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, the Hon. Jean-François de Grandpré, as a result announced the setting in motion of a recruiting process that will lead to the hiring of a successor, and a smooth and effective transition between now and the summer.

“This rigorous process will assist us in finding that new person to guide an FGM which will acquire even more donors, which will be even more engaged in the community, and which will reaffirm itself as an institution that brings people together, with uncompromising integrity and a cutting-edge strategic vision.”, he explained. “To help us in this quest, we have partnered with the renowned executive search firm Décarie, who will help us bring to fruition this mission that the board knows is absolutely vital.  We hope to introduce our new President and CEO at our next general assembly, on May 20. On behalf of the Board, I would to extend a heartfelt thanks to Yvan for the seven years he has devoted to FGM. Without him, it could not have become what it is today. Thank you, Yvan! “, Mr. de Grandpré added. The position profile for the new CEO can be found here.
