Families and children receiving youth protection services are unable to see each other, the government has stopped all visits, they cannot do schoolwork -no access. They need technology to do this. For three weeks they have not ‘seen’ each other. We need technology with cellular capabilities Families who live under the poverty line need additional funding for food – most have been laid off of their jobs, and have no savings. Kids ‘aging’ out of youth protection at age 18 need emergency funding for rent, Hydro bills. We are fundraising – we had hoped Centraide’s fund could help, but the rules changed, we dont receive funding from them, we dont receive funding from any City of Montreal agency. While the Ministry of Health and Social Services/CIUSSS-ODIM has the responsibility to pay for the children’s living environments, there isn’t emergency funding for everything the kids need during isolation. They do not provide funding to kids leaving care. Many kids are with foster families, little attention has been paid to their needs by the Ministry of Health and Social Services Majority of the families are at-risk/live under the poverty line and cannot afford any technology
