Montreal, May 27, 2026 – The Foundation of Greater Montréal (FGM) held its annual general meeting yesterday. With more than $523 million in assets under management across just under 800 philanthropic funds, FGM has maintained its position as the largest community foundation in Quebec and the sixth largest in Canada. In 2025, it distributed more than $19 million to about 630 organizations and initiatives in the Greater Montreal area in all sectors.
Over the course of the year, donations and contributions to the Foundation totalled nearly $22 million. Thanks to the community’s generosity and our Investment Fund’s solid 10.8% rate of return, the Foundation remains in excellent financial health, maintaining our capacity to serve the community. This brings our investment portfolio’s three-year annualized gross rate of return to 12.7%.
Changes to our Board of Directors
At the meeting, the Foundation’s members re-elected the Board of Directors’ Chair Karen Macdonald, its Vice-Chair Frédéric Lavoie, its Treasurer Toni Dilli, and members Mariama Dupuis, Nadine Raymond and Kenny Tang. Anick Morin’s mandate as Secretary was also renewed. The assembly also elected four new Board members to succeed those whose terms have come to a close in 2026: Nadir André, Pascal Grenier, Sophie Labrecque and Jason Taylor. FGM thanks them for their work and commitment!

Quotes
“Building on its achievements of the last 25 years, the Foundation of Greater Montréal is ready to launch the next chapter of its history. Now more than ever, institutions like FGM must direct their resources and influence towards the most marginalized in our community, as well as the people, groups, and grassroots collectives defending their values, rights, and dignity. Today, we reiterate this commitment towards all Greater Montreal communities” said Karen Macdonald, Chair of the Board of Directors.
“We are currently living through many crises, socially and environmentally, and also in the cultural sector. Therefore, we need everyone’s commitment, to the extent of each person’s means. To achieve real and lasting impact, we must work together. Although I stepped into this role only recently, I have already been able to witness the immense potential of the Foundation of Greater Montreal as a collective tool in service of the community. Thanks to its team — as skilled as it is dedicated — the FGM continually reinvents itself to better respond to needs and support the emergence of the profound changes our community aspires to. Join us: Greater Montreal needs you, now!”, added President and CEO Luc Rabouin.
“FGM’s role goes beyond merely managing and distributing funds: we are also here to listen, learn, build lasting relationships, and be a steadfast ally to our communities. In every aspect of our work, the transformative philanthropy we practice empowers people and fosters the development of sustainable, equitable responses to the great challenges of our time and place. Thank you for your support!” concluded Karen Macdonald.
