It takes all of us

A word from FGM – January 2026

Dear friends and partners of FGM,

It is with great enthusiasm that I’m taking up my new position as President and CEO of the Foundation of Greater Montréal. All throughout my career, I have sought ways to empower our communities and support their growth and well-being. My decision to join the FGM team is a natural extension of this longstanding commitment, albeit in a new form.

I didn’t have to mull over FGM’s offer for long before accepting, as the Foundation’s social and environmental values are firmly aligned with my own. I believe the pursuit of the common good and the building of a more just, inclusive, and resilient community go hand in hand with an approach grounded in listening, respect, and collaboration.

Through a trust-based approach to philanthropy, focus on historically marginalized communities, commitment to responsible and impact investing, efforts to democratize philanthropy in our communities, and support for anyone who wants to give back to bolster a cause they care about, FGM plays a key, leading role in Greater Montreal’s philanthropic and community ecosystem. What’s more, it does so with authenticity and kindness.

Philanthropic and human capital

As we all know, the challenges facing us are vast and complex. It will take the efforts of each and every of us to rise to them. In addition to strong public policies—which are absolutely necessary—we will need to mobilize greater philanthropic capital as well as greater citizen capital—that is, the human capital that is the true strength of our communities.

For me, FGM’s greatest potential lies in bringing together leaders with a similar vision and a shared desire to take action, while multiplying the impact of their contributions. The Foundation exists to bridge the gap between the various organizations that support and transform our communities and all the people who wish to give back to and invest in these communities.

We will soon begin drafting our next strategic plan to guide us through to 2030. And so, I’d like to close my very first post by calling on you! Your philanthropic projects and your citizen and community initiatives are essential to Greater Montreal meeting the enormous challenges it’s facing. In times of crises, we all have a duty to act. And each of us can contribute in our own way, at the scale best adapted to our means. It is the sum of all these actions that will enable us to build a more just, more inclusive, and greener community.

Like a Swiss Army knife, the Foundation offers you a range of tools to assist with your projects. I am looking forward to working with every one of you so that together, we can build the community we aspire to. Thank you for your warm welcome and see you soon!
