Stories that inspire
The Foundation of Greater Montréal supports hundreds of community organizations in every sector. Their work enhances the well-being of the entire community, including that of its most vulnerable individuals. All our gratitude goes out to the men and women who work day in and day out to bring a better quality of life to all.
Our thanks go as well to FGM donors and fund creators, whose philanthropic efforts bring to life the values they embody: solidarity, generosity and community engagement. It is through their commitment that the Foundation and its partner organizations can have a real impact on the well-being of Greater Montréal’s population. Here are some of their stories.
The Fonds Fondation Marie Paule et Mokhtar Amami
Retired university professors Marie Paule and Mokhtar Amami are keen to “give back to society what it has given [them]: a greater understanding of how to live together in a diverse society”. That is why they want to make a difference, and are involved in various causes, such as renovating an elementary school in Tunisia, and supporting musical activities in a disadvantaged neighbourhood in Tunis. In 2023, Mr. And Mrs. Amami wished to take their commitment and philanthropic involvement a step further by creating a fund at FGM. The mission of the Fonds Fondation Marie Paule et Mokhtar Amami is to support young North…

The Association hispano-québécoise de la Montérégie (AHQM)
Previously known as the Association hispanique et latino-américaine de Boucherville et de la Rive-Sud, in 2023 the Association hispano-québécoise de la Montérégie (AHQM) was officially founded by a committee of six individuals of diverse origins: Chile, Peru and Quebec. The catalyst for the creation of the Association was Luis Zuniga, a Boucherville resident of Chilean origin, subsequent to the adoption by Quebec’s National Assembly of Bill 1094, which proclaimed the month of October to be Hispanic Heritage Month. In September of 2022, Mr. Zuniga had already organized an initial event in Boucherville showcasing Latino culture. Aiming to “create synergies between…
