The Foundation of Greater Montreal raised $217,000 during a Rollicking Benefit Roast for Past Board Chairman Marcel Côté
Under the Honourary Chairmanship of Isabelle Hudon, the Foundation of Greater Montreal’s benefit event gathered some big names in the business and political worlds to pay tribute to head honcho, Marcel Côté, founding partner of SECOR.
Montreal, June 16, 2011 – On June 15, the Foundation of Greater Montreal (FGM) held a benefit event at the Centre CDP Capital, which included a roast to honour Mr. Marcel Côté, founding partner of SECOR, and Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the FGM. Several distinguished guests, dear friends and collegues, took great delight in roasting this special man, while sharing several amusing stories and anecdotes.
Roasters included: Isabelle Hudon, President, Sun Life Quebec, and Honourary Chair of the evening, Louise Roy, President of the Conseil des Arts de Montréal, Marie Chouinard, choreographer and founder of La Compagnie Marie Chouinard, Daniel Denis, Partner of SECOR, Suzanne Côté, Partner and Head of the Montreal Litigation Group at Osler, Gérald R. Tremblay, Partner of the Montreal Litigation Group at McCarthy Tétrault, and Monique Jérome-Forget, a former Québec politician.
Marcel Côté has been actively involved with the FGM for almost 10 years. On June 15th, he retired as Chairman of the Board of Directors, a position he occupied since 2009. In addition to his active professional life and his many contributions to the non-profit sector, he is recognized for his relentless energy, enthusiasm, non-stop advice, and irresistible personality.
“Marcel Côté is involved with numerous non-profits and private enterprises, and sits on many Boards of Directors. We felt that it was important to bring everyone together to highlight and celebrate his countless contributions to the Montreal community,” says Marina Boulos, President and CEO of the FGM. “There was no shortage of spicy, uplifting and hilarious stories which perfectly depicted Marcel Côté, which made the event great fun for all,” she adds.
The benefit event, attended by over 400 guests, raised $217,000, which will enable the FGM to pursue its mission which is to support local community initiatives aimed at the well-being of the community.
