Job title: Project Manager, Community Engagement

Job summary

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Community Partnerships, the Project Manager, Community Engagement will contribute to the implementation of the strategic objectives and mission of the Foundation of Greater Montréal (FGM). As part of a team of three people, the Project Manager will be involved in the deployment of the Foundation’s grant programs and will carry out administrative tasks. Core responsabilities

Grant management

  • Maintain or initiate relations with community organisations supported by FGM or those eligible for support (where possible, through in-person visits). Do follow-ups and update organizational files.
  • Support community organizations through the grant application process and monitor supported activities.
  • Organize meetings and informal events for organisations supported by FGM. Actively collaborate in the planning and coordination of these meetings.
  • Stay informed of the trends and developments in the community and philanthropic sectors of Greater Montreal, particularly issues concerning the socio-ecological transition and reconciliation with First Peoples, and share information with the team.
  • Actively contribute to the development of the parameters of FGM’s grant programs (deadlines, focus areas, funding conditions, selection criteria, etc.).
  • Occasionally represent FGM at forums, meetings, working groups, events, etc.
  • Participate in the rollout of grant programs from Community Foundations of Canada (CFC), keep track of the program parameters.
  • Collaborate with the Philanthropic Development team regarding the distribution of donor advised funds and other funding programs.

Administration

  • Monitor grant budgets, complete grant payment requests and carry out the necessary follow-ups in collaboration with the administrative team.
  • Enter information on the supported and prospective organizations into the ProDon database.
  • Compile relevant data and statistics on grant allocation.
  • Draft letters, agreements, standard emails and presentation documents for FGM’s grant programs.
  • Respond to general inquiries and requests from community organizations.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings and teleconferences, particularly for the Community Engagement Committee (invitations, room reservations when necessary and drafting of minutes).
  • Contribute to the drafting or revision, or fully produce presentation documents intended for the Community Engagement Committee or FGM partners.
  • When time allows, participate in relevant conferences, workshops and webinars to advance FGM’s knowledge in areas related to its priorities.
  • Carry out all other administrative tasks related to the position.

Learning and collaboration

  • Engage in ongoing learning on the subjects relevant to the work of the community engagement team, including trust-based philanthropy approaches, participatory grantmaking, collaborations with grassroots and non-traditional community actors and other topics.
  • Participate in collective learning and knowledge sharing on the topics of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion and reconciliation with the First Peoples.
  • Contribute to reviewing and improving our philanthropic approaches, grantmaking practices and tools.
  • Contribute to maintaining and reinforcing a team and organizational culture that fosters openness, curiosity, collaboration, learning and collective well-being.
Required qualifications

  • University diploma in social sciences or equivalent training.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience (professional or lived) relevant to the job description.
  • Interest for the philanthropic sector, its opportunities and challenges.
  • Demonstrated interest for social justice, the socio-ecological transition and commitment to the community sector.
  • Willingness to support FGM’s commitment to supporting and amplifying the voices of the communities that have been historically marginalized by the philanthropic sector.
  • Ability to communicate in an open and inclusive manner.
  • Demonstrated rigour and professionalism, combined with curiousity, creativity, openness and a desire to learn.
  • Experience with project design and management.
  • Experience with impact evaluation (asset).
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with teleconferencing tools (Zoom, Teams, etc.)
  • Familiarity with ProDon client-server database (asset).
  • Ability to show initiative and manage priorities efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable and able to work remotely or in the office, depending on the context.
  • Occasional availability to represent FGM at events organised by partners that may take place outside working hours.
Work conditions
  • Permanent position, 35 hours per week, hybrid work environment (two office days/week).
  • Salary according to experience and current salary scale (between $53,122 and $74,757).
  • Health insurance and collective pension fund (RRSP).

  • Three weeks of vacation + one week paid office closure during the winter holidays.
