Solidarity in Action

The Greater Montréal Foundation supports hundreds of community organizations across all sectors whose projects enhance the well-being of the entire community, particularly its most vulnerable members. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to those who work every day to improve quality of life for all.

We also thank the Foundation’s donors and fund creators, whose philanthropic initiatives bring their values of solidarity, generosity, and community engagement to life. Their stories are shared here. It is thanks to their commitment that the Foundation—and its partner organizations—can make a meaningful and lasting impact on the well-being of the Greater Montréal population. The Bernadette Gratton in Memoriam Fund is dedicated to honoring the memory of the late Bernadette Gratton, a native of Plateau-Mont-Royal who maintained a long-standing interest in the history of her family and her childhood neighborhood.

Musique Nomade is an organization that supports, produces, and promotes Indigenous artists. As the music arm of Wapikoni mobile, it has been working since 2006 to foster the recognition of talent and personal growth through music among members of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities.

Founded in 2014, Montréal Autochtone aims to “contribute to the holistic health, cultural strength, and success of Indigenous families, individuals, and the community living in the Greater Montréal area.” The organization primarily serves youth and families, offering a wide range of programs focused on well-being, education, culture and craftsmanship, sports, and connection to the land.

Kanien’kehá is one of the 2,600 languages at risk of disappearing worldwide, according to the United Nations. Over the past four centuries, the Kahnawà:ke community’s need to adapt to surrounding realities has often led to language and cultural matters being put on the back burner.
