250 community projects were summited to the Foundation of Greater Montréal for its grants program in 2016.

Montreal, Wednesday July 13, 2016 – The Foundation of Greater Montréal (FGM) has received applications for 250 different projects from charitable and nonprofit organizations based in Greater Montréal, and working in all sectors of society, as part of its grants program for 2016. Around 50 projects will be selected over the coming months by the expert committee at the FGM. Announcement of the final recipients will be made on the FGM website (www.fgmtl.org) in early October

The Foundation of Greater Montréal, which distributes approximately $6M annually into its grants program, will give $700,000 this year thanks to an exceptional contribution from the Department of Canadian Heritage, under its Community Fund for Canada’s 150th. This contribution has allowed the FGM to double the initial funding of its grants program.

CBC and Radio-Canada are now the official partner of Community Foundations of Canada (CFC), the national network of 191 community foundations to which the FGM belongs. As such, the Canadian public broadcaster has agreed to broadcast stories on a number of the projects that will be supported by the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th. “We hope that this media exposure will encourage citizens not only to participate in the projects advanced by the Foundation of Greater Montréal but also to become more involved within their community,” responded Yvan Gauthier, President and CEO of the Foundation.
