The St. Michael’s Finnish Montreal Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded in 1927 by Finnish immigrant women, many of whom had come to work as domestic help for families of Montr\u00e9al. As a Finnish community formed, the new church quickly became a center of various activities and events. To this day, St. Michael’s Church has been an organization providing a wide range of spiritual, social and cultural services to Finnish-speaking people as well as local friends in Montr\u00e9al.<\/p>\n

The St. Michael’s Finnish Montr\u00e9al (SMF) Community Fund\u00a0 was created in 2021 as part of the Foundation of Greater Montr\u00e9al to carry on the tradition of the St. Michael’s Church and its activities in Montr\u00e9al. Through the distribution of grants, the aims of the SMF are to promote activities that highlight and nourish the Finnish language, culture, identity and history in Montr\u00e9al, Qu\u00e9bec and Canada. The St. Michael’s Finnish Montr\u00e9al Community Fund also provides grants to assist the wellbeing of seniors in the Finnish community of Montr\u00e9al.<\/p>\n
