With a view to guiding and encouraging the next generation of climate activists, the FGM has chosen to allocate $20,000 from the Collective Fund for Climate and Ecological Transition to the Collectif de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 civile qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise<\/a>\u2019s G\u00e9n\u00e9ration Climat Montr\u00e9al <\/em>project for COP26.<\/p>\n

The project will increase young people\u2019s knowledge and skills in climate justice; it is geared in particular to youth from Indigenous, marginalized, racialized or student communities. Prior to, and during, the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26)\u00a0taking place in Glasgow, Scotland, it will support the young participants on several fronts: political advocacy, communication, popularizing scientific information, etc. As well, a video will be produced on location. The initiative will also provide accompaniment to the young people after the event, so they can pursue their engagement and their mobilization for greater climate justice in their respective communities.<\/p>\n

The Collective, launched in 2019 by the YMCAs of Quebec with contributions from several partners and collaborators, aims to foster the engagement of all individuals \u2014 but especially young people between the ages of 18 and 35 \u2014 in their communities, promote diversity and inclusion, and develop a better understanding of the challenges resulting from climate change and its\u00a0impacts both locally and internationally.<\/p>\n

Thanks to this support from the Foundation of Greater Montr\u00e9al, between 7 and 10 young people aged 18 to 30 who are committed to raising awareness about COP26 issues in their communities, and to fighting for greater climate justice, can participate in the event until November 12, as well as in civil society activities associated with the conference.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":[],"class_list":["post-16730","temoignage","type-temoignage","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"\nQuebec Civil Society Collective -
